Funomena's award-winning Luna is now on itch.io

Overview

A Bird's peaceful summer slumber is disturbed by the majestic call of a mysterious Owl. Enticed to swallow the last piece of the waning Moon, Bird is blown far from its Golden Gate home.

Re-awaken shadowy forests and bring life back to sparkling lakes. Discover hidden creatures, help Bird reunite the fragmented Moon... and find its way home.

  • Solve celestial puzzles to unlock each level's tree, plants and animal spirits.
  • Place, customize and interact with them in miniature, musical terrariums.
  • Bring each world to life, revealing Austin Wintory’s haunting, enchanting score.

Brought to you by Funomena’s uniquely diverse team of veteran developers (Journey, Flower, Boom Blox, The Sims 2), Luna is an interactive fable about learning by the light of unexpected mistakes.

Luna started off in partnership with Intel and their RealSense Camera technology, but as the project evolved, and hand-tracked VR controllers began to emerge, we partnered with Oculus to bring the game to the Touch. The non-VR PC version was released shortly after the original launch date. The storybook edition later updated the core game with a voice over narrative & localized subtitles to further elucidate Luna's heartfelt story.

You can find out more about how the idea for Luna came to be through these tweets by Robin Hunicke. Luna is a very personal game for Robin, and we hope it'll touch you like it has already touched others across the world.

Reviews

“Without so much as a single word, Luna traps us within its narrative fantasy, quickly switching its focus to puzzles so we discover the truth in metered, literary chunks.” Gameranx

“This process is truly special and unique because the more time you take with it, the more beautiful and rewarding the world will look...” 8.6 – The Nerd Mag

Frame issue preventing game from running properly. Fixed by setting rivatuner to low detection and setting framelimiter to monitors refresh rate.

Only flaw is indeed the controls when it comes to rotating the scenes and placing the trees on the terrain. Very glitchy and unresponsive. It's playable but annoying. Other than that very cool game to chill with for an hour. The visuals are awesome

This game is cute, and I love the score, but the mouse issues makes it unplayable for me. I can't select colors, I can't rotate the screen without it bugging out. I really want to love this game, but the jank from the mouse is too much.

Hi, I purchased this game a while back but I can't seem to download the file- help?

I can't play this game due to the mouse issues other people have mentioned. The mouse sensitivity settings don't stop the cursor from randomly shooting to other places on the screen.

Its a shame this Experiance does not show up if you filter in the store on VR.

That is a lost opportunity for selling the experiance and discovering this experiance

Is the text supposed to run off the screen on the bottom during spoken dialogs? I don't see an option to set resolution if that is the issue.

My cursor is all over the place. I couldn't even exit the game without using Task Manager. Setting the mouse to less sensitive makes it slower to move but then I still get the sudden jumps, so it's actually worse.

Any help anyone?

ETA: Windows 10, Dell XPS

ETA: using trackpad

This might not be helpful to you specifically, but does this apply only to this game?  If you have a wireless mouse, you can try checking your battery!  That's just something that's happened to me repeatedly as the battery runs lower.  I don't notice it outside of games, usually.

Also you can check your mouse pad's tracking accuracy by testing on a click test website and see if you might be having trouble tracking, accurate motions.  It could also be what you have your mouse on top of.  Again, sorry if that doesn't help at all, just a couple thoughts :)

Thank you for replying! In fact I'm using the trackpad on my laptop and it works perfectly in every other situation! It's very strange the way it will just suddenly veer off in this game. I think it must be a bug :-(

It seems to get worse as I spend more time in the game - I've gone out and in a few times and that seems to help. It's a beautiful game.

The "danish" is defently not danish at times Especially the options menu.

Just gorgeous. This is the most beautiful artstyle I've seen in a game since Gris, the characters are really evocative, and the music is amazing!

Really a  truly beautiful game. Very relaxing. Hope to see more

This game is pure art, i love it soooo much!

I love the look and tone of this game, I really do...but I don't think I'll be able to continue for now because the mouse sensitivity gives my hand cramps. It's so so sensitive that the slightest twitch goes halfway across the screen... I hope this can be addressed because I'd really like to finish this game...

Played through this a little bit over at my gameplay channel!
FEELS REMINISCENT OF OLD SCHOOL POINT AND CLICK GAMES I USED TO PLAY AS A KID. Had a lot of fun messing around with it. Might finish it soon! : D Thanks for the awesome game. LOVE the music and aesthetic.

Can't play. My mouse won't even appear on the screen.

Really sweet little game, well done devs! The art style was amazing and perfect for the feeling of the game. The narrator had a pleasant and relaxing voice and the story was cute. The music was probably my favorite part, it was relaxing and beautiful. Lovely game! Highly reccomend.

Some issues with selecting colors for the decorations, (really spastic and hard to get the color you'd like) but other than that, no issues.

Hey folks, thanks again to everyone checking out the game and supporting the Racial Justice Bundle! There's been a huge spike in new players so discovering some new hardware issues with some players' devices that we hadn't run into before. We're investigating the title screen input issue and mouse sensitivity. Our support team is very small so may take another few weeks to get a fix or troubleshooting steps out, and we sincerely appreciate your patience.

Why does such a mouse-heavy game not have a mouse sensitivity bar in the options?!

(+1)

THANK YOU. I can't tell you how annoying it was when even a tiny little flick of my mouse sent the cursor jolting to the other side of the screen! Trying to creep along (in order to keep it from spazzing out) just slowed the game down to a crawl.

(+1)

Yeah, I'm just gonna not even touch the game until this is fixed. I couldn't really figure out what to do anyways.

(+1)

Short but sweet game.

I had a bunch of fun decorating the different habitats.

I would like to point out it's hard to select the colors I wanted with the mouse - the color wheel didn't move to where I wanted it to go half the time.

I also glitched the first time I loaded the Bear level on Windows 10 - I was stuck in a black screen trying to chase spots that made noise, thinking I would illuminate a dark cave.

(+3)

The game looks amazing, but I can't get past the title page, and there doesn't seem to be a support link anywhere on itch.io (where I bought it) or the official page. Does anyone know where I might find some troubleshooting tips?

Some resolution options would be nice, also having the same problem as a few of the other comments where my mouse sensitivity is very low

Any chance for a Linux release? :)

I've been running it w/Wine in Linux. So far it's been flawless, and I'm about 60% done I believe.

Oh goodness, this game is such a treat. Beautiful, relaxing, and lovely. I haven't finished it yet because I don't want it to end.

I did have some issues with the mouse being slow at first, but it seemed to sort itself out as I played more. Sometimes it takes a bit to figure out what I'm supposed to do, but I haven't got stuck yet, fingers crossed!

If you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed this is a wonderful way to relax.

Hi! I've seen raving reviews about this game and finally downloaded it, but I can't get it to work? It downloaded just fine, and even starts up just fine, but when I click any of the available options on the launch screen, the symbol next to them becomes permanent and doesn't actually do anything. (Even Exit; it's a little baffling) I haven't found any fixes online and hoping for help ;A;' thanks in advance!

this game made me cry. 10/10 would recommend

I really enjoyed this game, unfortunately there were some problems with the stream I did so I couldn't finish it.
I featured this game in my charity stream, starts at 1:48:09

loved the artstyle and music; very cute game

Hello! Beautiful game. I have a question though! I am playing on Windows 10. My mouse moves so slowly in game. I have to pick it up several times to get from one side of the screen to the other. Is there a fix for this?

(+1)

would love to know, as I am also having mouse sensitivity issues but in the other direction (mouse moves much too fast). I think it might have something to do with screen resolution, but I'm not sure as mine is already up the highest it can go....

Beautiful art, music, and story. Cannot emphasize enough how gorgeous it is. Though it seems to be geared more towards children, I still found myself in tears at the end. Great work.

hey! i just downloaded and can't get beyond the start screen. none of the buttons on my mouse or keyboard seem to select anything?

i'm also having this error, this game looks so cute and i'm so sad its not working for me right now :(( i hope there's a fix posted somewhere

Having an issue with my mouse on Windows, it moves extremely slow in the game and couldn't find an option to change the sensitivity :(
